Large islands have become the prominent characteristic in kitchens. Home remodelers are recognizing its importance and have made it the focus region of their own projects. In a survey of nearly 2,600 homeowners, a third said they added an island during renovations, and nearly a quarter said they updated their current one.
Supersizing the island is just one fad that is big, the Houzz survey finds. A third of all remodelers had kitchen islands that measured another 39 percent had.
2 in five homeowners updated their island cabinets to the principal fixture using a contrasting colour or added. Gray was the most popular option at 26%, followed by blue (19%) and black (11%).
Using contrasting colors was common among remodelers. The most well-known choices for contrasting the island was white (23%) and moderate wood (21%).
