Jefferson Park

Jefferson Park is an approximately 160-acre historic residential district in central Oklahoma City. Much of the area was platted and annexed in 1908, with residential development continuing through the first several decades of the 20th century.

The neighborhood includes detached homes as well as historic multifamily buildings. Its location places residents near NW 23rd Street, the Paseo area, the State Capitol area, and downtown Oklahoma City.

Jefferson Park is both a National Register historic district and an Oklahoma City Historic Preservation district. Exterior alterations, demolition, and new construction may therefore be subject to City historic-preservation review.

Jefferson Park has the compact street pattern and mature residential setting typical of an early Oklahoma City neighborhood. Curving streets and small park spaces were incorporated into portions of the original neighborhood plan, creating a different character from later suburban subdivisions.

Homes in Jefferson Park reflect a mix of early-20th-century styles, including Craftsman and bungalow forms, masonry revival homes, and other period residential designs. One-story cottages and bungalows are common, alongside larger two-story homes and historic multifamily buildings.

Front porches, hardwood floors, original woodwork, period windows, and detached garages are among the features found in the neighborhood, although individual homes vary substantially in condition, renovation, and design.
