Heritage Hills developed during Oklahoma City’s early period of growth, beginning around 1900 and largely taking shape during the first quarter of the 20th century. Rather than being a single planned subdivision, the district incorporates several early residential areas and additions.
The neighborhood became home to prominent Oklahoma City business, civic, and professional leaders, whose residences helped establish its architectural character. Heritage Hills later became Oklahoma City’s first Historic Preservation District in 1969 and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
