Skirvin Hotel — Oklahoma City Historical Postcards

From My Oklahoma City Postcard Collection…

The back of the Skirvin Hotel postcard.

Let me tell you about the Skirvin Hotel. This majestic beauty has stood tall in downtown Oklahoma City’s heart since 1911. It has played host to presidents and dignitaries, making it a historical landmark. More recently, probably every NBA team has stayed here.

However, in the 1980s, the hotel closed its doors, leaving its grandeur forgotten. It wasn’t until 2002 that the city purchased the Skirvin and began the extensive renovations it deserved.

It was finally reopened in 2007 as the Skirvin Hilton, and trust me; it’s absolutely stunning. I was lucky enough to spend my 20th anniversary here; it was an experience like no other. The elegance and sophistication of the hotel left us in awe, and we enjoyed every moment.

If you ever get the chance to visit, don’t miss out on the opportunity to dive into the history of the Skirvin.
