Newcastle, OK Local Area Information
About Area
Newcastle
From its birth as a rural farming community, Newcastle embodied small-town values and community character.Today, Newcastle is growing up, but its progressive vision for the future is still based on those original values and ideals. Newcastle typifies the best in what Oklahoma as a state has to offer: Openness, friendliness, resilience, self-reliance and always the willingness to help.
From the wide-open spaces of rural estate living to the convenience of developed neighborhoods, Newcastle has it all. Located just minutes from OKC and Norman, this quiet city maintains a small-town atmosphere while delivering easy access to the state's best entertainment, business and higher education districts. Citizens are protected by full time Fire and Police Departments and can rest easy with Newcastle's low crime rate.
Newcastle is located just south of OKC on Interstate 44 and just west of Norman on I-35. Newcastle is 15 minutes from Will Rogers International Airport, 7 golf courses, 6 movie theatres, 2 shopping malls and 4 hospitals.
At Newcastle Public Schools, we have tried to combine values that are congruent with the community with modern technology and instruction. A smaller learning community, Newcastle enjoys an environment that is conducive to learning, as evidenced by our well above average test scores. With modern and expanding facilities, students enjoy curriculum including Advanced Placement English, Math and Science; the area's only multi-handicap program; Great Expectations, Enrichment and Reading programs for elementary students; and a latch-key program before and after school.
At Newcastle Schools, we have worked hard to partner with the community for more successful students. We work from the knowledge that all of us are smarter than any of us.
The many colleges and universities in the area include The University of Oklahoma, Norman; University of Science and Arts, Chickasha; Oklahoma City Community College, south OKC; Rose State College, OKC; Oklahoma State University OKC.
As you can see, Newcastle offers community and family-oriented living in the heart of the metro.
