Homebuyer Tax Credit Extension Is Official

Let me join all the other Realtors who blog and announce the the homebuyer tax credit of $8,000 has been extended until May 1, 2010. Additionally a provision was added allowing a $6,500 credit for current homeowners buying a new home who have lived in their current home 5 of the last 8 years. Other restrictions apply and as always there’s fine print involved especially when the government’s a part of the process. I would be happy to discuss it with you if you’d like, but you should contact your tax advisor before jumping in.
